Staff Software Engineer
AlphaSense is seeking a Full Stack Staff Engineer to lead the evolution of its application portfolio through robust architecture and cutting-edge AI integration. This role is designed for a seasoned engineer who thrives on solving large-scale frontend challenges and building performant, customer-focused systems. The successful candidate will act as a strategic lead, researching and architecting solutions for complex frontends while fostering a culture of technical excellence across the team.
Key responsibilities include serving as the architectural anchor for integrating AI into the product fabric by researching, prototyping, and deploying solutions using large language models (LLMs) and the latest frontend technologies. The engineer will design frontend architectures that serve as gateways to the AI platform, building robust, scalable interfaces capable of rendering insights from millions of documents with sub-second latency. Additionally, the role involves partnering with cross-functional, distributed teams to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and leading the seamless integration and optimization of intelligent features and high-impact workflows across the platform.
The ideal candidate will have over eight years of experience building complex, data-intensive full-stack systems, with at least five years specifically scaling production-grade services using Node.js, GraphQL, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems. Deep expertise in React and TypeScript is essential, along with a proven ability to codify performance best practices, navigate complex architectural trade-offs, and drive code-level improvements. The candidate should also have strong proficiency with SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud-native development within AWS or GCP, and working knowledge of Python or Java/Spring. Exceptional communication skills and prior experience at global technology companies or high-growth product organizations with a high-bar engineering culture are also required.
AlphaSense offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $176,000 to $242,000 USD, equity options, and a generous benefits program.
