Sportsbook - Performance Architect
The Performance Architect role at Betsson Group's Sportsbook Technology organization involves taking end-to-end ownership of performance as a primary architectural concern across the platform. This position emphasizes frontend performance while requiring a solid understanding of infrastructure, networking, and distributed systems. The architect will collaborate closely with other architects, DevOps, and engineering teams to ensure that performance, scalability, and responsiveness are integral to the design of current and future Sportsbook initiatives.
Key responsibilities include defining and owning the performance architecture for Sportsbook applications, focusing on frontend performance and customer-perceived latency. The role involves establishing and maintaining performance-related non-functional requirements across web, mobile, and platform layers. The architect will work with Product, Engineering, and Architecture teams to align performance goals with business objectives and customer experience. Additionally, the role entails driving best practices for frontend performance, such as rendering and hydration strategies, asset loading, caching, and CDN usage. Collaborating closely with frontend teams to review designs and technical decisions from a performance perspective is also a key aspect of the role.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience with frontend performance engineering in large-scale, high-traffic systems. A solid understanding of web architectures, modern frontend frameworks, HTTP, networking fundamentals, caching, and CDNs is essential. Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and containerized environments like Kubernetes is required. The candidate should have a proven track record in designing and reviewing systems with performance, scalability, and resilience in mind. Excellent communication skills are necessary to explain performance trade-offs and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
