Data Engineer

Betsson Group is seeking Data Engineers to join our international teams in Malta. In this role, you will contribute to designing and developing our data platform to meet business needs and enhance system performance. You will have the opportunity to design new data pipelines and maintain platforms hosted on data streams for batch-loading and real-time visualizations.

Key responsibilities include maintaining and evolving our existing data platform, mentoring engineers on data modeling standards such as Inmon, Kimball, and Data Vault, ensuring data quality by verifying consistency and accuracy, staying updated on new technologies and techniques, troubleshooting and resolving problems and incidents, taking full ownership of assigned projects and tasks, and documenting processes while performing knowledge-sharing sessions.

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of AWS services like S3, Lambda, Glue, DMS, and RDS; experience with modern cloud database technologies such as Snowflake or Redshift; proficiency in cost-efficient SQL designs and query optimization; experience with orchestrating data pipelines using tools like Airflow; familiarity with object-oriented programming and abstraction principles; and experience in data warehousing concepts and data modeling techniques such as Inmon, Kimball, or Data Vault.

Additional desirable skills include proficiency in data streaming technologies such as Kafka, experience with software versioning tools like GIT, skills in infrastructure scripting using Terraform, hands-on expertise in data monitoring and visualization tools, and experience in scripting with PowerShell and Unix.
