Senior Rust Software Engineer
Mozilla is seeking a Senior Rust Software Engineer to join its Ads Engineering team, which focuses on building core infrastructure to support ethical, privacy-forward advertising across Mozilla's products. This role involves contributing to the development of an internal component for client-side ad fetching, rendering, and measurement across platforms such as Firefox, Pocket, and MDN. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in creating scalable, privacy-preserving advertising components that ensure consistent and performant ad experiences across Mozilla's properties.
Key responsibilities include designing and delivering reusable components within Mozilla Ads products that support multiple product teams and surface areas. The engineer will collaborate closely with Product, Ad Operations, and Data Science teams to enable enriched measurement, feedback reporting, and experimentation. Implementing privacy-preserving features in Mozilla Ads products is a critical aspect of the role, contributing to Mozilla’s vision for ethical advertising. Additionally, the engineer will work with front-end teams across Mozilla to support and extend existing systems, applying innovative technologies to achieve Mozilla’s advertising goals. Translating product and engineering strategies into actionable tasks and early prototypes, while providing constructive feedback, is also expected.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of successfully leading and shipping complex software projects. Proficiency in Rust is essential, along with familiarity with front-end technologies such as JavaScript or React. Experience with telemetry, privacy-preserving analytics, and programmatic advertising is advantageous. Strong communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration in a distributed, cross-functional environment, which includes both asynchronous written communication and verbal communication. A commitment to Mozilla's core values—welcoming differences, being relationship-minded, practicing responsible participation, and having grit—is highly valued.
Mozilla offers a comprehensive compensation package, including generous performance-based bonus plans, rich medical, dental, and vision coverage, and generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting. Employees benefit from quarterly all-company wellness days, country-specific holidays plus a day off for their birthday, a one-time home office stipend, an annual professional development budget, and a quarterly well-being stipend. Considerable paid parental leave and an employee referral bonus program are also part of the benefits.
