Verkada, a leader in cloud-based physical security solutions, is seeking a Senior Product Counsel to join their rapidly growing Legal team in San Mateo, CA. This pivotal role involves advising product, engineering, supply chain, and marketing teams on legal aspects related to Verkada's diverse product offerings, including video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory compliance, government procurement, and marketing, with expertise in areas such as connected devices, commercial alarm products, and federal supply chain regulations.

As a cornerstone member of the Product Legal team, the Senior Product Counsel will be responsible for providing legal guidance throughout the product development lifecycle. This includes advising on product development, marketing, sales, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws. The role also involves designing and implementing compliance programs, offering legal risk mitigation strategies across multiple jurisdictions, and simplifying complex legal frameworks to accelerate product delivery. Additionally, the Senior Product Counsel will enhance product launch processes to ensure new offerings are adequately protected and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Candidates should possess a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be a member of at least one state bar association in good standing. A minimum of six years of legal experience is required, encompassing regulatory, intellectual property, product counseling, marketing, and general transactional work, with at least two years of in-house experience preferred. Experience advising multinational, fast-growing global companies, particularly in hardware and software product offerings, is essential. Expertise in federal procurement requirements, licensing and regulatory compliance for alarm products, and domestic and EU regulatory compliance for connected devices is highly desirable. Strong legal and business judgment, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, are crucial for success in this role.
