In this role, the Senior Privacy Counsel will serve as a subject matter expert on global privacy laws and regulations, monitoring new developments in privacy and AI/ML laws. They will collaborate with key privacy, security, and product stakeholders to develop and lead Verkada's privacy and AI governance programs, ensuring compliance with evolving data privacy obligations. Additionally, the Senior Privacy Counsel will provide legal advice to Product and Engineering teams on new products and features, support the Commercial Legal team on transactions involving privacy issues, and oversee program auditing for compliance and global harmonization.

The ideal candidate will have a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and at least 8 years of relevant privacy experience, including a minimum of 4 years as in-house counsel at a B2B technology company. Expertise in data privacy, biometrics, and AI/ML regulations is essential, along with experience advising multinational, fast-growing global companies with both hardware and software product offerings. Strong communication skills are required to bridge technical and non-technical partners, and the ability to navigate ambiguous situations and drive alignment is crucial.
