Regulatory & Trade Compliance Manager
Verkada, a leader in cloud physical security solutions, is seeking a Regulatory & Trade Compliance Manager to join their team in San Mateo, CA. This role is integral to ensuring Verkada's products meet global trade compliance, product compliance, and government procurement requirements. The position reports directly to Verkada’s Assistant General Counsel for Product Legal and offers an opportunity to shape compliance strategies in a rapidly scaling company.
As a Regulatory & Trade Compliance Manager, you will serve as the primary legal advisor for product, engineering, supply chain, and operations teams, guiding them on all regulatory compliance matters related to Verkada’s product offerings. You will collaborate closely with the supply chain team and external counsel during hardware development to determine jurisdiction, end-use/user restrictions, and licensing requirements based on EAR, ITAR, and OFAC regulations. Additionally, you will simplify complex legal frameworks to facilitate product delivery, design and implement cross-functional compliance programs, and develop global internal controls and audit frameworks for OFAC, ITAR, and emerging AI-related export controls.
The ideal candidate will have over six years of experience in compliance, encompassing trade compliance, software and/or hardware compliance, and regulatory support. Experience in multinational, fast-growing global companies, particularly with high-tech B2B products, is preferred. Expertise in U.S. import/export laws, specifically ITAR, EAR, and OFAC, as well as licensing and regulatory compliance for highly regulated products like alarms or batteries, is highly desirable. Strong legal and business judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines are essential.
