Tyson & Mendes LLP is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join their Complex Trial Team in Southern California. This role involves leading high-exposure insurance defense cases, including those related to catastrophic injury, wrongful death, property damage, and professional liability. The Senior Counsel will be responsible for developing and executing case strategies, managing all stages of litigation from pleadings to trial, and serving as lead counsel in jury and bench trials. Additional duties include advising clients and insurance carriers, overseeing discovery processes, and collaborating with expert witnesses to strengthen case arguments. Mentoring junior attorneys and ensuring high-quality work within the team are also key aspects of this role.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and an active California bar license. A minimum of 8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, with a strong focus on complex trial work, is required. Demonstrated success as lead trial counsel in high-stakes cases, along with exceptional oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation skills, are essential. Experience in catastrophic injury, construction defect, or professional liability cases is preferred.

The base salary for this position ranges from $160,000 to $190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys are eligible for an annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with additional tiers offering $7,500 each.
