Founding Machine Learning Lead - Instawork Robotics
Instawork is seeking a Founding Machine Learning Lead to spearhead the technology strategy for physical AI training data within its Robotics division. This role is pivotal in advancing Instawork's mission to create meaningful economic opportunities for skilled hourly professionals by leveraging AI-powered labor marketplaces to support local businesses and drive innovation in robotics and AI.
The selected candidate will be responsible for planning, architecting, and building data labeling and enrichment pipelines that form the foundation of Instawork Robotics' data offerings. Key responsibilities include optimizing these pipelines for efficiency and scalability, developing methodologies to measure dataset and machine learning model quality, staying abreast of academic research and industry best practices in robotics learning, collaborating cross-functionally with various teams to ensure alignment from concept to deployment, and mentoring engineers to elevate the technical standards across the organization.
Candidates should possess at least 8 years of programming and/or engineering leadership experience, excluding internships, and hold a Master's or PhD in an AI or machine learning-related field. A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in building machine learning or computer vision models for robotics or autonomous vehicle applications is required. Expertise in distributed systems, cloud computing on AWS infrastructure, and scalable data processing for large-scale datasets is essential. Additionally, a background in translating academic research into production systems and a problem-solving mindset are highly valued.
The position offers a base salary ranging from $240,000 to $260,000, eligibility for equity in the form of stock options, and a comprehensive benefits package.
