Data Scientist, Power Markets
Arevon is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Market Operations team, focusing on developing algorithms, predictive models, and optimization methods to support the company's energy storage portfolio. The Data Scientist will lead the enhancement of price forecast models for power markets, including day-ahead, real-time, and long-term projections for power and ancillary services. Responsibilities include analyzing large-scale power market datasets to identify trends and risks, translating quantitative research into actionable insights for trading and investment decisions, and staying informed on market rules and regulatory changes to integrate into modeling strategies.
Candidates should have direct experience with power market data and analytics from markets such as CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, NYISO, or PJM. A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in data analysis and quantitative modeling is required, along with advanced programming skills in Python or R, strong SQL proficiency, and the ability to manage large, unstructured datasets using distributed computing platforms. Strong communication skills are essential to convey complex quantitative findings effectively.
