Team Lead Software Engineer
As a Team Lead Software Engineer at Capital on Tap, you will lead a dynamic product engineering team within our Porto office. This role emphasizes people-first leadership, focusing on the growth, well-being, and performance of your team. While maintaining technical credibility, you will shape direction, remove blockers, and uphold high-quality standards, contributing to our mission of simplifying financial services for small businesses.
Your primary responsibilities include hiring, developing, and retaining engineers, conducting meaningful one-on-one meetings, and identifying growth opportunities for team members. You will collaborate with Product and QA teams to plan and deliver reliable software solutions by removing obstacles, managing risks, and keeping the team focused on key objectives. Additionally, you will foster a positive team culture by promoting effective communication, feedback, and accountability, ensuring psychological safety without compromising standards.
We seek candidates with prior experience managing engineers, possessing a clear understanding of effective leadership practices, and the ability to provide developmental feedback and motivation. A solid technical foundation is essential, as our backend utilizes C#/.NET Core; this knowledge will enable you to earn trust, review decisions, and identify risks. A product-oriented mindset is crucial, allowing you to consider engineering within the context of business outcomes, advocate for quality, and effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to create clarity for your team in a growing and evolving environment are also important.
