The Gaming, Developer & Future Technology (GDFT) Group at PlayStation is at the forefront of the cloud gaming revolution, delivering console-quality video games across various devices, including TVs, consoles, and mobile platforms. We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer with a strong background in DPDK and software-defined networking to join our innovative team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology that enhances gaming experiences for millions of players worldwide.

In this position, you will implement and optimize peer-to-peer PCIe communication between Data Processing Units (DPUs) and other bus devices, aiming to minimize latency and reduce host CPU involvement. You will manage network device queues across PCIe peers, handle doorbell interrupts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams spanning hardware, drivers, system software, and networking. Additionally, you will utilize hardware and software debugging tools to diagnose PCIe and DPU issues and document key technical areas through technical presentations.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or have over 10 years of relevant work experience. A minimum of 8 years of combined experience in C/C++ is required, along with expert-level proficiency in DPDK and software-defined networking. A strong understanding of PCIe peer-to-peer communication, including memory-mapped I/O, queue management, and device-to-device signaling, is essential. The ability to debug, profile, and optimize firmware performance, as well as working knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and L2 layer protocols, are also necessary.

Preferred qualifications include experience developing software or firmware on DPUs or similar technologies, familiarity with Open vSwitch/Sonic, and knowledge of EVPN-VXLAN. Experience with network driver development on Linux or embedded operating systems, as well as with storage offload engines and computer networking domains, is advantageous. A track record of technical leadership guiding teams without direct authority is also desirable.

PlayStation offers a competitive compensation package, with an estimated base pay range for this role between $198,200 and $297,400 USD. Employees are eligible for top-tier benefits, including medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness programs, and coveted employee discounts for Sony products. This role may also be eligible for a bonus package.
