Staff Software Engineer
AlphaSense is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and reliability of our global financial data extraction and normalization platform. This system ingests filings across various formats, extracts and standardizes financial data using a combination of AI and deterministic systems, and delivers trusted, traceable outputs at scale to downstream financial services teams and customers. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical architecture and driving engineering excellence within the organization.
In this role, you will own the architecture and evolution of our large-scale data extraction and normalization platform, processing hundreds of thousands of records across heterogeneous sources with high reliability. You will design systems that minimize human-in-the-loop validation through AI-based validation, confidence scoring, provenance tracking, and deterministic safeguards. Additionally, you will establish clear system contracts for correctness, traceability, and confidence, balancing AI-driven approaches with procedural and rules-based systems to improve reliability and explainability.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience building and operating large-scale production systems, with proven expertise in designing data ingestion, extraction, or processing systems at scale. Deep knowledge in distributed systems, data platforms and pipelines, AI/ML-powered extraction or classification systems, or platform/infrastructure engineering is essential. A strong understanding of system reliability, observability, failure modes, and iterative hardening is also required.
AlphaSense offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $176,000 to $242,000 USD, along with equity options and a generous benefits program.
