Staff Data Analyst, Block Compliance
The Staff Data Analyst will join the Block Compliance Analytics team, which is dedicated to integrating data into the core of the Compliance organization. Block is a company composed of various units, all committed to the mission of economic empowerment. In this role, the analyst will leverage their expertise in Financial Crimes and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) to develop strategies and lead initiatives that provide actionable analytics to leaders across Block's business units, effectively communicating the Compliance program's narrative to regulators and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include leading data strategies for regulatory engagements, encompassing tasks from Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) development to source data validation and analysis. The analyst will bridge regulatory expectations with Compliance and Product roadmaps to influence strategic direction. Additionally, they will utilize raw data to inform internal and external partners about the impacts of new regulations, policies, or environmental changes on Block's compliance program and platforms. Collaboration with legal and engineering teams is essential to guide the development of critical compliance program components.
The ideal candidate possesses over eight years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or six years with a Master's degree, or equivalent work experience. A minimum of five years in Compliance or AML is required. Proficiency in SQL and data analysis/visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker is essential, along with expertise in ETL development. The candidate should have a proven ability to solve complex problems using extensive technical knowledge, a vision to define and manage projects in a dynamic environment, and experience in effectively communicating data insights through various mediums.
