Staff Avionics Architect
The Staff Avionics Architect at Ursa Major leads the development of avionics architectures for complex aerospace and defense systems, including propulsion systems and flight hardware. This role involves translating system-level requirements into robust avionics solutions encompassing hardware, firmware, and embedded software. Ursa Major is dedicated to revolutionizing high-performance propulsion technologies to address critical national security demands.
Key responsibilities include defining end-to-end avionics architectures, translating mission and safety requirements into control and communication systems, and maintaining interface control documents and system diagrams. The architect will guide designs through various review stages, establish fault tolerance strategies, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support integration, testing, and supplier engagements.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, along with over 10 years of experience in avionics, embedded systems, or aerospace electronics. Proven experience in delivering flight avionics for aircraft or space applications is essential. A strong understanding of embedded processors, FPGAs, power systems, sensors, actuators, data buses, and communication interfaces is required. Familiarity with aerospace and defense standards and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively are also necessary.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $175,000, determined by the candidate's education, experience, and skills.
