Sr. Data Scientist
The Senior Data Scientist at Bandwidth will serve as a technical authority and strategic leader within the Data Science team, driving high-impact initiatives across the organization. This role involves leading complex, end-to-end data science projects, from opportunity identification and problem framing through model deployment and business adoption, ensuring measurable impact on revenue, efficiency, and competitive differentiation. The Senior Data Scientist will also partner with senior executives, product leadership, and cross-functional teams to embed data-driven decision-making into Bandwidth's core business processes and long-term strategy.
Key responsibilities include driving ownership of high-complexity, high-visibility data science projects, architecting and implementing advanced machine learning systems, and defining best practices for model development, validation, deployment, and monitoring. The role also involves translating strategic business challenges into well-scoped data science problems, delivering executive-level data-driven narratives, and serving as a technical lead and mentor for intermediate and junior data scientists. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist will proactively identify emerging opportunities to apply new techniques and partner with data engineering, software development, and platform teams to design scalable data and AI infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, with a graduate degree preferred. They should possess 7+ years of directly related data science experience, with a demonstrated record of independently delivering impactful, production-grade ML/AI solutions; or a graduate degree plus 5+ years of equivalent experience. Prior experience in a technical lead or informal management capacity is strongly preferred. Required skills include expert-level proficiency in Python, advanced mastery of statistical inference and machine learning, and expert knowledge of data structures, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks. Exceptional communication and leadership skills are also essential.
