Software Engineer - Runtime Platform, Robot Software
As a Software Engineer specializing in System Performance within the Robot Software team at Wayve, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing the software that powers our autonomous vehicle fleet. This position is based in Sunnyvale, California, and offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology in the field of autonomous driving.
Your primary responsibilities will include investigating latency and performance bottlenecks across the entire software stack, instrumenting code with profiling tools to collect performance data, and identifying optimization opportunities. You will also integrate and evaluate new profiling and instrumentation tools to benchmark system performance and establish baselines. Collaborating with multiple teams, you will understand their performance challenges and prioritize optimization efforts based on impact. Additionally, you will optimize critical code paths and algorithms to improve runtime efficiency, reduce latency, and enhance overall system performance.
The ideal candidate will have proficiency in developing high-performance embedded Linux systems software in C++, with a demonstrated ability to manage the complete software development lifecycle from ideation through delivery and optimization. A strong technical background in OS scheduling, computer architecture (including memory hierarchy, CPU caches, and context switches), and thread synchronization is essential. Experience with performance profiling tools and techniques for identifying and resolving system bottlenecks is also required. Familiarity with Nvidia performance tools such as NV NSight, NV Lumos, and tegrastat, as well as observability tools like Grafana, Databricks, and Datadog, is desirable. Experience with QNX and Momentics is a plus.
