Box is seeking a Software Engineer III to join the Notifications team, responsible for delivering reliable and high-quality notifications that keep users informed and engaged. The team manages the end-to-end notifications platform, supporting communication channels such as email, push notifications, in-app updates, and integrations with partners like Slack and Teams. This role offers the opportunity to impact millions of users by enhancing the user experience through effective notification systems.

In this position, you will attend and engage in weekly stand-ups, team meetings, and one-on-one sessions with your manager. Collaborating with other engineers, you will foster solid engineering principles and represent the team's values. Your responsibilities include utilizing both technical and interpersonal skills to lead large-scale projects to completion, collaborating across scrum teams to drive improvements, and modeling solid engineering practices around architectural design, testability, scalability, and maintainability. Additionally, you will partner with product managers, designers, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align on requirements and understand the business impact of your work. Participation in the on-call rotation is also expected to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.

The ideal candidate has over three years of professional software development experience, with proficiency in Java and a strong understanding of software design principles. You should be capable of assessing, communicating, and completing project milestones in a timely manner, and must speak English proficiently. Experience in test automation is required. Bonus points are given for experience with PHP or Node.js, working in a product company on customer-facing features, demonstrating ownership and pride in technical and team interactions, and experience in decomposing monolithic applications into microservices.
