Senior Software Engineer, Metadata Core
Box is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Metadata Core team in Warsaw, Poland. This team is integral to the Box Intelligent Cloud, enabling customers to add context to their files, transforming them into actionable content. As Box continues to innovate in intelligent content management, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of a next-generation Metadata Platform that supports millions of users globally.
In this position, you will lead the design and implementation of new platform components, focusing on scalability, reliability, and efficiency. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with partner teams and domain architects on system design and service integration, working with technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, BigTable, and Istio. Additionally, you will play a key role in setting the platform vision, defining feature roadmaps, mentoring engineers, and enhancing engineering processes and culture within the team and across Box.
The ideal candidate has over five years of professional software development experience, with extensive expertise in deploying and operating microservices in cloud environments. Proficiency in Java is required, and familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Scala, or PHP is advantageous. Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, message queues or streaming data systems like Kafka or Pub/Sub, and a solid understanding of scalability and observability practices are also essential. Strong communication skills in English and a background in mentoring and coaching engineers are highly valued.
