Software Engineer III, Metadata Experience
Box is seeking a Software Engineer III to join the Metadata Experience team in Warsaw, Poland. This role focuses on enhancing the Metadata Platform, a critical component of Box's Content Cloud that enables customers to add context to their files, transforming them into actionable content. The team is dedicated to advancing intelligent content management solutions, impacting millions of users across various enterprises.
In this position, you will lead the design and implementation of new platform components, collaborating with partner teams and domain architects to ensure seamless system integration. Your responsibilities include developing scalable services emphasizing reliability, observability, and efficiency, utilizing technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, BigTable, Elasticsearch, Spark, and Istio. Additionally, you will define the platform's vision, create feature roadmaps, mentor fellow engineers, and participate in the on-call rotation to address any arising issues.
The ideal candidate possesses over four years of professional software development experience, with a strong background in deploying and operating microservices in cloud environments. Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Vue is essential, along with a solid understanding of scalability and observability practices. Experience with message queues or streaming data systems such as Kafka or Pub/Sub is also required. Candidates should demonstrate leadership capabilities, including guiding teams, managing project milestones, and providing technical mentorship. Fluency in spoken and written English is necessary.
