Software Engineer II, Safety
Twitch is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Safety Products team, which is responsible for developing and maintaining user-facing features that enhance safety and moderation across the platform. This includes tools for enforcing Terms of Service, processing user reports, managing appeals, and providing streamers and channel moderators with functionalities like bans, timeouts, AutoMod, Suspicious Users, and Shield Mode. The role is based at Twitch's headquarters in San Francisco, CA.
In this position, you will work across the entire technology stack, including back-end, front-end, mobile, data, and infrastructure components. You will be responsible for owning and maintaining user-facing features that support both global safety products and channel-specific moderation tools. Your day-to-day activities will involve leading software initiatives, coding following best practices, providing documentation, testing, and delivering high-quality products to users in a timely manner. Collaboration with cross-functional partners such as Product Managers, UX designers, Data and Applied Scientists, and Marketers will be essential.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of professional software development experience and a proven track record of building consumer-facing products. Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks is required, along with strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of computer science concepts, including algorithms, data structures, and distributed computing. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent real-world experience is also necessary.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience in the safety or moderation space, familiarity with Twitch's technology stack (Golang, Typescript/React, iOS, Android), experience with AWS technologies such as ECS, DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS, and Step Functions, and familiarity with Twitch as a viewer or creator.
