As a Product Counsel at Twitch, you will serve as a key legal advisor to various teams throughout the product development lifecycle. Your primary focus will be on content policy and moderation, online and youth safety, advertising, and brand safety. Additionally, you will address areas such as product marketing, consumer protection, privacy, intellectual property, and e-commerce, all within the context of operating and expanding a global User Generated Content (UGC) service. This role reports to one of our Associate General Counsel.

Your responsibilities will include advising on the application of a range of laws, compliance issues, and industry standards, particularly concerning safety, moderation, and advertising. You will review products, processes, features, and initiatives to ensure they align with Twitch's global legal obligations. Supporting product and advertising growth while balancing user and policy considerations is essential. Drafting consumer disclosures, FAQs, and terms and conditions, as well as assisting in developing strategies for potential disputes, litigation, enforcement, and regulatory matters, will also be part of your duties. Collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, including Product, Engineering, Privacy, Public Policy, Marketing, Communications, and Customer Trust teams, is crucial.

The ideal candidate will possess a J.D. degree and be admitted to the California Bar in good standing or be a California Registered In-House Counsel. A minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience working on technology or internet-related issues is required, with at least 1 year of in-house experience preferred. Experience advising clients in sectors such as video, mobile, gaming, e-commerce, online marketplaces, user-generated content, or internet products/services is essential. Substantial experience with U.S. and international laws regarding online safety, youth safety, content policies, content moderation, advertising, and/or brand protection is also necessary. A collegial attitude, desire to work on a highly collaborative team, and a sense of humor are valued attributes.

Compensation for this position ranges from $169,300 to $229,000 USD annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. The total compensation package may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
