Software Engineer - Application Framework
The Application Framework team at Octus is responsible for developing and maintaining the foundational platform—including APIs, SDKs, and shared services—that supports application development across the organization. We are seeking a Software Engineer who is passionate about solving platform challenges, delivering high-quality code, and enhancing the productivity of fellow engineers. At Octus, AI integration is integral to our development lifecycle, encompassing design through code review. This role is ideal for individuals eager to incorporate AI tools as a core component of their workflow.
In this position, you will contribute to projects and shared SDKs from design to production, making pragmatic trade-offs between speed and quality. Responsibilities include writing meaningful tests—unit, integration, and contract—to ensure confidence in shipping code, and progressively taking ownership of larger initiatives. Collaboration is key; you will participate in code reviews, engage in design discussions, and share knowledge with teammates. Additionally, you will help monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production systems in distributed environments, systematically investigating and resolving technical issues, and maintaining technical documentation such as architecture, API specifications, runbooks, and coding guidelines.
The ideal candidate has over three years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building backend systems, APIs, or SDKs. Proficiency in backend fundamentals is essential, with a willingness to quickly learn new languages and a deep understanding of C#. Experience with cloud-based systems, preferably AWS, and a solid grasp of relational databases like PostgreSQL are required. Familiarity with distributed systems and event-driven patterns, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, is also important. Comfort with using AI tools—like code generation and AI-assisted review—as a standard part of the engineering workflow is expected.
Octus offers a competitive base salary range of $150,000 to $175,500 for this position, along with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
