APAC Senior Reporter, Private Credit & Leveraged Finance
Octus is seeking an experienced capital markets reporter to join our team as the APAC Senior Reporter, Private Credit & Leveraged Finance. This role is based in Hong Kong, Singapore, or Sydney and focuses on expanding our coverage of private credit and primary high-yield bond issuances within the Asia-Pacific region. The successful candidate will collaborate with our regional team of journalists, credit analysts, and data specialists to deliver exclusive stories and in-depth market analyses.
Key responsibilities include breaking high-impact stories on leveraged financing, particularly in private credit sectors such as financial sponsor-backed acquisitions, real estate, and growth financing. The role also involves monitoring APAC market trends, major fund movements, and key personnel changes to inform our editorial strategy. Additionally, the reporter will work closely with data specialists and analysts to translate complex financial data into accessible, must-read content, and actively build a network of contacts within the investment and legal communities.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial journalism with a specialization in capital markets, preferably in private credit or high-yield bonds. A strong understanding of financial mechanisms underpinning private credit, syndicated loans, bonds, and distressed debt restructurings is essential. The role requires a scoop-first mindset, excellent writing skills, and meticulous attention to accuracy. Candidates should be self-starters with effective interpersonal skills, capable of navigating a fast-paced environment and engaging with sophisticated financial sources.
