Senior Writer, Editor & Research Lead
Box is seeking a Senior Writer, Editor & Research Lead to join our editorial team in Redwood City, California. This role focuses on creating original storytelling, reporting, and research projects that establish Box as an authority on AI in the enterprise. The ideal candidate is deeply immersed in the AI conversation and can produce relevant, credible, and differentiated editorial content. This is a player/coach position, involving both content creation and the direction of a small team of experienced writers and editors.
Key responsibilities include producing fast-turn editorial content in response to developments in AI, such as analysis pieces, explainers, and contextual features. The role also involves writing longer-form thought leadership articles, data-driven analyses, technical features, executive Q&As, and research-driven narratives. Additionally, the candidate will conduct interviews with Box executives, subject matter experts, customers, and external experts to inform content creation. Managing Box's research program is another critical aspect, which includes designing the research agenda, managing vendor relationships, interpreting data, and transforming findings into flagship content that fuels the entire content operation.
The ideal candidate possesses deep, demonstrable AI fluency, with published writing about AI, a track record of engaging with the AI conversation publicly, or professional experience working in or covering the AI space. A minimum of 5 years in editorial writing, journalism, or content marketing with a portfolio demonstrating strong writing on technology topics is required. Experience managing or significantly contributing to a proprietary research program, including survey design, data analysis, and research-to-content production, is essential. The candidate should also have experience conducting interviews with technical and executive subjects and turning them into published content, as well as experience working in or covering B2B technology, enterprise SaaS, AI, or adjacent categories. Strong editorial judgment and experience directing or managing a small team of writers or editors are also important.
