Senior Technical Accountant – Foreign Currency & Hedging
Box is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant specializing in foreign currency and hedging to join our Controllership team. This role is pivotal in managing our global financial consolidation processes, ensuring compliance with SOX controls, and collaborating across departments to enhance and scale our financial operations. Reporting to the Senior Consolidation Manager, the position offers significant visibility up to the CFO and the opportunity to impact our rapidly growing, publicly traded company with over 13 entities across the US, Japan, and EMEA.
The Senior Technical Accountant will lead key aspects of the global month-end close, ensuring timely and accurate consolidated financial results. Responsibilities include reviewing intercompany transactions, preparing reconciliations for monthly global settlements, and managing consolidation elimination entries. The role also involves analyzing foreign currency gains and losses, collaborating with Treasury and International Controllers on cash positioning, and identifying strategies to mitigate foreign exchange exposure. Additionally, the accountant will own critical SOX controls related to financial close, NetSuite access, and Chart of Accounts updates, as well as conduct technical research on foreign currency and hedging accounting to develop practical processes.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience, with a CPA or CPA candidacy preferred. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of relevant experience in multinational, high-tech, or publicly traded companies, with a background in a CPA firm considered a plus. Hands-on experience with month-end close processes, including intercompany transactions, eliminations, foreign exchange impacts, and consolidation across multiple systems and entities, is essential. Proficiency with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, is strongly preferred. A strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX compliance, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, analytical mindset are also required.
