Senior Systems Engineer
As a Senior Systems Engineer at Ursa Major, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our hypersonic propulsion and vehicle systems are meticulously designed, verified, and qualified to meet critical customer requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence design decisions, guide verification strategies, and shape systems engineering processes across our hypersonic product lines. The role is based in Berthoud, Colorado, with a hybrid work arrangement allowing for two remote days per week.
Key responsibilities include leading the definition, validation, and maintenance of system-level requirements for hypersonic engines and vehicles. You will develop and own qualification and verification plans, track requirement verification status throughout product development, and review test and analysis plans to ensure traceability to customer requirements. Additionally, you will conduct system safety and reliability analyses, lead risk analysis and mitigation efforts, and develop Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) architectures.
The ideal candidate will possess a B.S. in Aerospace, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering, with a preference for an M.S. degree. A minimum of five years of experience applying systems engineering principles to complex aerospace systems is required. Proven ability to manage requirements and verification for multi-disciplinary systems, strong organizational skills, and demonstrated leadership in cross-functional technical teams are essential. The role also requires the ability to work on-site in Berthoud, Colorado, at least three days per week.
Compensation for this position ranges from $133,000 to $166,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
