The Senior Software Engineer position on the Channel Processing team at Klaviyo involves designing, building, and operating highly scalable and available distributed systems to manage increasing campaign traffic. This team is responsible for Klaviyo's most-used engagement product, processing and delivering over a billion messages daily for hundreds of thousands of customers. The role is based in Boston, MA, and offers a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities include owning and developing features and services that Klaviyo customers rely on daily, crafting a scalable campaign pipeline capable of processing and delivering hundreds of millions of messages, collaborating with teams and stakeholders across the company on designs and implementations, learning and applying new technologies to evolve systems, improving development processes, mentoring other engineers, and participating in the technical interview process to maintain high standards.

The ideal candidate has 4-6+ years of experience in software engineering, with a track record of architecting, building, and delivering complex systems. They should have experience with large-scale system architecture, a strong understanding of various technologies and patterns, and the ability to make appropriate trade-offs to meet business needs. A passion for solving performance and scalability issues, a data-driven mindset for product improvement, familiarity with system monitoring and alerting techniques, and experience mentoring team members are also essential. The candidate should enjoy working on small, high-performing agile teams and collaborating to produce optimal solutions.

The base salary for this position ranges from $148,000 to $222,000 annually, depending on factors such as job-related skills, experience, education, and work location. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may include participation in the company's annual cash bonus plan, equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility.
