Senior Software Engineer, Android
Twitch is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Mobile Core Engineering team, focusing on Android development. This team provides essential tools, frameworks, and best practices that empower mobile engineers to create exceptional experiences for millions of users. Twitch is transitioning from a native-first to a hybrid mobile strategy, integrating React in WebViews alongside native Android capabilities.
In this role, you will own and drive the technical strategy for foundational Android components, native video playback infrastructure, and hybrid frameworks. Responsibilities include architecting and building robust WebView infrastructure and bridges, leading performance optimization efforts for platform components, and providing technical leadership and mentorship to Android engineers across multiple product teams. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain development standards for hybrid mobile applications.
The ideal candidate has over six years of professional Android development experience, mastery in Kotlin and modern Android development practices, and a deep understanding of the Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and architecture components. A proven track record of leading major architectural initiatives and experience mentoring engineers are essential. Familiarity with AI-powered development tools to accelerate development is also required.
