Senior Manager, Global Trade Compliance
The Senior Manager, Global Trade Compliance at Ursa Major is responsible for establishing and leading the company's export compliance program, ensuring adherence to regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). This role involves developing scalable compliance frameworks to support the company's growth in the aerospace and defense sector while safeguarding controlled technical data and international business activities. The position requires close collaboration with various departments, including Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Legal, HR, Cyber Security, and Executive Leadership, to integrate information security and export control requirements into core business processes. Serving as the primary authority on export compliance, the Senior Manager will drive policy development, risk management strategies, and operational execution across the enterprise.
Key responsibilities include leading the export compliance program, advising executive leadership and program teams on regulatory risk and licensing strategies, and developing policies and internal controls for export classifications and technical data handling. The role also involves ensuring compliance with registration, filing, reporting, and retention requirements, overseeing processes for classification determinations and technology control planning, and managing export license applications and regulatory correspondence with U.S. government agencies. Additional duties encompass implementing denied party screening, conducting international partner due diligence, providing strategic guidance on risk mitigation, maintaining compliance records, and coordinating with various departments to ensure proper technical classification and alignment with security protocols.
Candidates should possess U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET security clearance, with a preference for TS/SCI eligibility. A bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, International Trade, Legal Studies, or a related field is required, along with over 10 years of experience in export compliance or regulatory compliance within aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or similarly regulated environments. Applicants should have a deep understanding of ITAR and EAR, including export classifications, licensing strategies, and technology transfer controls. Proven experience in leading or building export compliance programs, influencing senior leadership, and collaborating cross-functionally is essential. Strong analytical, communication, and policy development skills, as well as the ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment, are also necessary.
The base compensation range for this role is $145,000 to $185,000 annually, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
