Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Shield
Box is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Shield team, focusing on enhancing enterprise security features within the Box platform. Box Shield is designed to protect the flow of information and reduce content-centric risks without impeding productivity. The Shield team is dedicated to developing robust and user-friendly security solutions that detect malicious software, identify compromised accounts, and recognize anomalous behavior, ensuring the safety of customer content.
In this role, you will design, train, and deploy machine learning models for threat detection, including ransomware identification and user behavior analytics. You will manage end-to-end machine learning pipelines that process high-volume security event streams using technologies such as Apache Spark, GCP Dataflow, GCP Dataproc, BigQuery, and Vertex AI. Additionally, you will create and maintain feature stores that support real-time and batch anomaly detection systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate security requirements into effective machine learning solutions.
The ideal candidate has over five years of experience in applied machine learning, with a strong background in building, deploying, and supporting scalable ML systems. Proficiency with cloud platforms like GCP (Vertex AI, BigQuery, Dataflow) or equivalents such as AWS SageMaker or Azure ML is essential. Strong programming skills in Python, experience with deploying and maintaining ML models in production, and a deep understanding of feature engineering, model evaluation, and MLOps are required. Excellent communication skills and an ownership mindset are also important for success in this role.
Box offers a competitive salary range of $211,000 to $263,500 USD for this position, along with equity and comprehensive benefits.
