Klaviyo is seeking an experienced Senior Language Manager to lead and optimize the language and localization strategy for the German market during an 8-month fixed-term maternity cover. This role is integral to ensuring that all German customer touchpoints—including the product, website, marketing campaigns, customer education, and partner and developer portals—are linguistically and culturally aligned with Klaviyo's standards. The position is based in London, UK, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring three days per week in the office.

The Senior Language Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining linguistic and cultural standards, including style guides and glossaries, to ensure consistent, high-quality content across the entire customer journey. Key duties involve reviewing German translations, monitoring linguistic quality, providing feedback to translation teams, and proactively addressing localization issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Additionally, the role includes facilitating collaboration between internal stakeholders and vendors, advising on localization processes, and managing a team of German linguists through the localization supplier.

Candidates should possess at least 5 years of experience in a comparable localization role on the client side, along with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Languages, Translation, Localization, or International Studies. Fluency in English and native-level proficiency in German are essential. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in translation, localization, and language quality management, as well as demonstrated experience in localizing product, marketing, and support content for the German market. Experience with Smartling or similar Translation Management Systems (TMS) is advantageous. Strong business acumen, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work independently while driving strategic initiatives are also important.

The base salary for this position ranges from £56,000 to £84,000 GBP, reflecting the cost of labor in the advertised location. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package may include participation in the company's annual cash bonus plan, equity, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility. The role may require up to 10% travel for purposes such as new hire onboarding, client or partner work, team meetings, and industry events, with travel coordinated in advance.
