Wayve is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our AI Engineering department in Sunnyvale, California. As a leader in Embodied AI technology, Wayve develops advanced AI software enabling vehicles to perceive, understand, and navigate complex environments, enhancing the safety and usability of automated driving systems. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of our AI Driver, a system designed to learn from real-world and simulated driving experiences.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with engineering teams to generate actionable insights that guide improvements to the Wayve AI Driver. Your responsibilities will include formulating and iterating upon performance metrics, designing experiments and targeted off-road measurements to ensure product requirements are met while maintaining safety and performance, and investigating factors in model training and inference to identify and validate hypotheses for unlocking improvements.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Data Science role, with proficiency in querying and building large datasets, writing production-level SQL for data-transformation pipelines, and designing robust real-world experiments (e.g., A/B testing). A strong foundation in statistics, including testing appropriate distributions and assumptions behind frequentist statistics, is essential. Proficiency in statistical scripting languages and data science/ML packages (e.g., Python with pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, SciPy, or R with dplyr, caret, stats) is required. The candidate should be well-versed in summarizing, visualizing, and communicating findings effectively and have a track record of influencing team direction through data-driven insights.

Wayve offers competitive compensation, including salary and equity, and immersion in a team of world-class researchers, engineers, and entrepreneurs. Benefits include an onsite chef, workplace nursery scheme, private health insurance, therapy, daily yoga, onsite bar, large social budgets, unlimited learning and development requests, enhanced parental leave, and more. This is a full-time role based in our Sunnyvale office, with support for flexible working arrangements, including up to 2 weeks of remote work from anywhere in the world.

At Wayve, we value diversity and foster an inclusive work environment where contributions matter. We embrace new perspectives and back each other to deliver impact. Joining Wayve means being part of a team that is reimagining mobility for everyone, everywhere, and tackling some of the biggest challenges of our time.
