Senior Counsel (Complex Trial)
Tyson & Mendes LLP is seeking a seasoned trial attorney to join their Complex Trial Team as Senior Counsel. This role involves leading high-exposure insurance defense cases, including those related to catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and professional liability. The position is based in Los Angeles, California, and requires an active California bar license.
The Senior Counsel will be responsible for developing and executing case strategies, managing all stages of litigation, and serving as lead counsel in jury trials, bench trials, and mediations. Additional duties include providing clear legal advice to clients, overseeing pleadings, discovery, depositions, pre-trial motions, and settlement negotiations, as well as supervising and mentoring junior attorneys and support staff.
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and have at least 8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation with a strong focus on complex trial work. Demonstrated success as lead trial counsel in multiple high-stakes cases is essential. Strong knowledge of civil procedure, tort law, insurance law, and trial strategies, along with exceptional oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation skills, are required.
The base salary for this position ranges from $160,000 to $190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys are eligible for an annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with additional tiers aggregating at $7,500 each.
