Senior AI Engineer, ARIA Team
Klaviyo is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join the ARIA (Applications, Resources, Intelligence, and Automations) team, which focuses on developing AI systems to enhance employee productivity. This role involves designing, building, and scaling production-grade large language model (LLM) integrations and AI-powered automation tools from the ground up. The position is based in Boston, MA, and reports to the Director of AI and App Engineering.
The Senior AI Engineer will be responsible for architecting and developing LLM-powered applications for internal automation, knowledge retrieval, and intelligent workflow assistance. Key duties include designing robust API integrations between AI models and internal systems such as HRIS, ticketing, CRM, and knowledge bases to ensure reliability and low latency. The role also encompasses developing full-stack AI features, managing CI/CD pipelines for AI systems, implementing retrieval-augmented generation systems, and establishing AI engineering best practices.
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on building AI, ML, or LLM-powered systems in production. Deep expertise with large language models like OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, or Llama, and experience integrating them into production applications via API is required. Strong full-stack engineering skills across Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) and TypeScript or JavaScript, along with experience in modern frontend frameworks, are essential. Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi is also necessary.
The base salary for this position ranges from $112,000 to $168,000 annually, depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may include participation in the company's annual cash bonus plan, equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility.
