Senior Accountant
Klaviyo is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role will own complex accounting areas, support the monthly and quarterly close process, and play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will work cross-functionally within Finance and across the business, support external audits, and help drive process improvements as the company continues to scale.
In this role, you will own and manage complex areas of accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. You will support and drive key aspects of the month-end and quarter-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting. Additionally, you will review work prepared by Staff Accountants and provide coaching and feedback to support their development. You will apply a strong understanding of SOX principles, including the design, execution, and documentation of internal controls, and partner with external auditors by preparing audit requests and supporting audit walkthroughs and testing. Collaboration with FP&A, Procurement, Legal, and other teams will be essential to support accurate financial reporting. You will also analyze financial results to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and lead process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field and 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting is required, along with hands-on experience supporting month-end close, reconciliations, and audits. A demonstrated understanding and application of SOX/internal control principles is essential, as is experience working directly with external auditors. Proficiency in Excel and experience working in an ERP system, with NetSuite experience strongly preferred, are also necessary. A CPA license or progress toward certification is preferred.
Klaviyo offers a competitive base salary for this position, ranging from $92,000 to $138,000 USD, depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education or training, and work location. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may include participation in the company’s annual cash bonus plan, equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility.
