The Vehicle Generalization team within Robotics Engineering at Wayve is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Robotics State Estimation and Control Generalist. This role is critical for the initial bring-up phases of new vehicle development programs, requiring deep expertise in control systems, state estimation, and hands-on system troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will work on-site at our Sunnyvale location, collaborating closely with Application Engineering and external customer teams.

Key responsibilities include refining, tuning, and generalizing controller, state-estimation (odometry, localization), and perception algorithms to ensure performance and stability across various new vehicle platforms. The role also involves owning the stability and performance of new vehicle platforms during critical development phases, including on-vehicle debugging and integration work. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with Application Engineering, Vehicle Software Integration, and Control teams to troubleshoot integration issues and provide expertise on the control stack. Providing on-the-ground technical support for key customer programs, which may require domestic and international travel, is also a key aspect of this role.

The ideal candidate should have over 3 years of experience in a robotics or automotive context with hands-on robotic system characterization and system identification. A strong background in control system design, state estimation (including odometry and localization), and sensor fusion is essential. Proficiency in C++ and Python programming languages is required. Demonstrated strong robotics system thinking, enabling quick diagnosis and resolution of complex integration issues in dynamic environments, is also necessary. The candidate must be based in Sunnyvale, CA, and be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally for on-the-ground customer and vehicle support.
