Private Credit Reporter
The Private Credit Reporter role at Octus involves joining an established team of journalists to cover the emerging private credit secondary market in Europe. The focus is on private equity-owned businesses financed by private debt, with an emphasis on transactions involving the buying and selling of existing private credit fund interests or loan portfolios, as well as GP-led deals. Octus is a leading global provider of credit intelligence, data, and analytics, serving professionals across hedge funds, investment banking, management consulting, and law firms.
Key responsibilities include consistently breaking news on LP and GP-led transactions, as well as stressed large and mid-cap private credit names. The reporter will support team members in sourcing deals and enhancing coverage, develop and maintain rapport with key industry contacts across private equity, private credit, and the advisory community, and identify and report on new trends and developments in private equity and private credit funds. Collaboration with financial and legal analysts, as well as other reporters, is also a crucial aspect of the role.
The ideal candidate should have previous experience in financial journalism with a track record of breaking news stories. A passion for breaking news and cultivating relationships is essential, along with excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain market sources among sophisticated deal makers. The ability to write clearly and concisely under deadline pressure, attention to detail, and strong analytical and critical thinking skills are required. Self-motivation, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced newsroom environment, and a solid understanding of private equity, debt capital markets, specifically private credit, leveraged loans, and high-yield bonds, are also important. European language skills are considered an advantage.
Octus offers competitive health benefits, matched 401k and pension plans, paid time off, generous parental leave, gym subsidies, educational reimbursements for career development, recognition programs, and pet-friendly offices in the US.
The company values action-oriented individuals with a customer-first mindset, effective team players, and those driven to excel.
