Principal Software Engineer, Financial Data Platform & GenSearch Agent
AlphaSense is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of its GenSearch product, a customer-facing generative AI system delivering high-confidence answers across multiple domains. This role focuses on enhancing the financial data agent within GenSearch, connecting AI reasoning to structured financial datasets, and improving web experiences that power fundamentals, M&A, screening, and other core capabilities.
Key responsibilities include optimizing orchestration between LLM workflows, structured datasets, and services to reduce latency in AI-powered financial answers. The engineer will introduce performance benchmarks, observability standards, and SLO discipline to improve reliability and correctness of AI-backed financial responses. Additionally, the role involves simplifying fragmented and legacy-heavy architecture, improving cross-dataset querying and screening, and shipping new datasets and product capabilities without increasing systemic complexity.
The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience building and operating production systems, with a proven ability to simplify complex systems and reduce architectural entropy. A strong background in distributed systems and performance optimization is essential, along with experience building AI-integrated systems, including LLM orchestration, tool usage, retrieval, and evaluation. Proficiency in backend systems and modern frontend frameworks, such as React, is required, as well as experience designing APIs and durable service contracts. Effective leadership in driving cross-team technical initiatives is also a key qualification.
The compensation range for this position is $246,000 to $339,000 USD annually. Additional benefits include equity options and a generous benefits program.
