Principal Design Engineer
The Principal Design Engineer at AlphaSense is a senior individual contributor role focused on shaping the future of the company's AI-powered product experiences. Key responsibilities include creating high-fidelity, coded prototypes and interaction models to bring complex AI-powered workflows to life, leading technical design discussions, making architectural decisions, and guiding cross-team implementation efforts. The Principal Design Engineer will also advance AlphaSense’s design system by defining scalable patterns, enabling consistency, and accelerating teams building across AI-native experiences. Collaboration with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders is essential to research and evaluate user requirements, translate them into effective designs, and ensure that the final product meets both user and business needs.
The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience in product design, design/UX/front-end engineering, design systems, or a related discipline. A bachelor's degree or higher in design, computer science, information sciences, psychology, or human-computer interaction is preferred. Hands-on experience with modern front-end technologies such as HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React is required, along with expertise in building AI and agentic experiences. The candidate should have a strong understanding of user-centered design principles, end-to-end customer workflows, and the ability to turn new users into habitual users. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are also essential.
