The Modern Workplace Design Engineer at Gilbert + Tobin is a pivotal role within the firm's Technology Operations team, focusing on the development and maintenance of secure, scalable, and automated endpoint solutions across Microsoft Windows and cloud-based platforms. This 12-month fixed-term contract, based in Sydney, offers the potential for transition to a permanent position, aligning with the firm's strategic objectives.

In this capacity, the engineer will design, build, and sustain secure Windows environments for enterprise endpoints and Azure Virtual Desktop environments. Key responsibilities include delivering modern endpoint deployment and management capabilities using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot, packaging and deploying core applications, policies, and scripts, and implementing automation through Microsoft-based tooling and PowerShell scripting. Collaboration with security teams to maintain compliance across the Windows fleet and organizational risk frameworks is also essential.

Candidates should possess over five years of experience in workplace engineering, endpoint management, or SOE design roles, with a strong background in managing modern Windows endpoint environments within enterprise organizations. Proficiency in Microsoft endpoint technologies, including Intune, Windows 11, Autopilot, and Entra ID, is required. Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell and modern application deployment methods such as WinGet and Win32 packaging is essential. A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
