Machine Learning Engineer, App SW
As a Machine Learning Engineer within the Application Engineering team at Wayve, you will lead critical initiatives that advance model-based autonomous driving. Your work will focus on enhancing core driving performance and developing feature-level intelligence, such as personalization, comfort, and collaboration. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI technology in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include designing and delivering machine learning-driven behaviors that scale from assisted to autonomous driving. This encompasses developing and improving end-to-end driving models with state-of-the-art performance, robustness, and generalization. You will also build evaluation pipelines and metrics for both closed-loop and open-loop driving performance, curate and mine real-world and synthetic data to drive scenario diversity, and influence architecture choices and deployment pathways for production-scale learning systems. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including AI Platform, Simulation, Robot Software, and Model Release, will be essential to ensure integration and iteration velocity.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive and proven track record of shipping deep learning systems to production, with expertise in deep learning, particularly in sequential models, control, planning, or perception. Proficiency in Python and other relevant languages, such as C++ and CUDA, along with experience in machine learning frameworks like PyTorch, is required. A solid foundation in software engineering practices and experience with real-time systems or robotics, ideally with simulation- or vehicle-in-the-loop components, is also essential. Additionally, the ability to lead technical initiatives across teams, drive alignment, and mentor engineers is highly valued.
This full-time position is based in Sunnyvale, California, and offers a hybrid working policy that combines time in the office to fuel innovation, culture, relationships, and learning, with time spent working from home.
