Legal Assistant
Morgan & Morgan, a leading personal injury law firm, is seeking a qualified Legal Assistant to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This role is integral to managing the firm's daily operations and supporting our legal professionals in delivering exceptional service to our clients. As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative and legal support tasks. Key duties include scheduling hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics. You will maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, organize exhibits and documents, and implement administrative processes to enhance workflow efficiency. Additionally, you will collect and organize evidence for attorney review, draft and proofread legal documents, research regulations and laws, manage client billing, and communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings and depositions.
The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for candidates holding an associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree. A minimum of two years of experience as an administrative assistant, legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal is preferred, especially within personal injury, workers' compensation, premises liability, or related practice areas. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with a typing speed of at least 35 words per minute, is essential. Strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are also required.
