Lead AI Software Engineer
As a Lead AI Software Engineer at Klaviyo, you will spearhead the design and development of backend and machine learning systems that form the foundation of our AI strategy. Klaviyo is a leading marketing automation platform serving over 182,000 customers, managing billions of consumer profiles, and facilitating hundreds of billions of customer interactions. In this role, you will lead the design and development of scalable backend and machine learning systems that serve our extensive customer base. Your responsibilities will include building robust data processing and model-serving pipelines, developing predictive systems such as conversion likelihood and personalization models, and architecting systems that enable our AI agents to learn and improve autonomously. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into scalable, measurable machine learning solutions will be a key aspect of your day-to-day work.
The ideal candidate will have 7–10 years of experience in machine learning engineering or applied software engineering, with a focus on classical machine learning and predictive modeling. A deep understanding of supervised learning methods, a proven track record of building and scaling production-grade machine learning systems, and proficiency in Python and modern frameworks are essential. Experience with big data and streaming technologies, asynchronous processing, and cloud-native architectures is also required. Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor engineers and influence product strategy are important for success in this role.
Klaviyo offers a competitive base salary ranging from $176,000 to $264,000 USD, depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition to base salary, our total compensation package may include participation in the company’s annual cash bonus plan, equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility.
