(Group) Engineering Manager
Capital on Tap is seeking a Group Engineering Manager to lead multiple product engineering teams in London. This role involves overseeing the health, delivery, and strategic direction of these teams, ensuring they develop features that drive new revenue streams and enhance customer engagement. The position requires a hybrid work arrangement, with two days per week in the London (Moorgate) office.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with Product and other stakeholders to identify and implement features that unlock new commercial opportunities and deepen existing customer relationships. You will shape the 3 to 12-month roadmap, aligning technical investments with commercial impact, customer value, and risk considerations. Additionally, you will influence the architectural direction of your teams' systems, ensuring technical choices are scalable, resilient, cost-effective, and sustainable. A key aspect of your responsibilities will be to lead, coach, and develop Team Leads, fostering their growth into confident, self-directing managers.
The ideal candidate will possess strong product and commercial instincts, with a proven track record of delivering features that generate new revenue or grow existing customer revenue. A customer-focused, commercially aware, and data-informed approach to decision-making is essential. Demonstrable strength in software architecture and system design is required, with the ability to set direction, challenge designs, and weigh trade-offs across scalability, cost, and maintainability. Experience in managing managers or Team Leads and developing them into senior leaders is crucial. A solid technical background and an understanding of full-stack teams and codebases are necessary, with familiarity and React being advantageous.
