Engineering Manager, Embedded Automotive Platform
As an Engineering Manager in the Embedded Automotive Platforms (EAP) team at Wayve, you will lead a U.S.-based team responsible for developing portable, production-grade core libraries and standardized APIs that interface between Wayve's autonomy stack and real vehicle platforms. Your team's work enables Wayve's software to operate reliably across multiple automotive reference platforms and runtime environments, such as NVIDIA Drive Orin on Linux/QNX and Qualcomm platforms, thereby accelerating real-world autonomous vehicle experiments and customer programs.
In this role, you will oversee the development of portable core libraries and platform abstractions that facilitate the consistent deployment of Wayve's autonomy software onto vehicle computing systems. You will guide the adaptation and integration of reference platforms, ensuring that these libraries function reliably across target environments. Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering automotive functional safety-certified core production libraries, maintaining high standards of engineering excellence, maintainability, and delivery discipline.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing and developing software engineers, with a strong background in embedded system development, preferably within the automotive industry. Proficiency in high-performance system languages like C++ and/or Rust is essential, along with the ability to be hands-on in coding and design. Familiarity with safety and quality standards such as ASPICE and MISRA is important, as is the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate clearly with stakeholders across teams and time zones. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
Wayve offers a hybrid working policy that combines time together in offices and workshops to fuel innovation, culture, relationships, and learning, along with time spent working from home. This approach provides flexibility while fostering collaboration and professional growth. The company is committed to creating an inclusive interview experience and encourages candidates to apply, even if they do not meet all the listed requirements, emphasizing a passion for self-driving cars and the potential to make a positive impact on the world.
