Director, Product Design - Diner
OpenTable is seeking a Director of Product Design to lead the design efforts across our Diner Platform teams. This senior leadership role involves managing a global team of nine designers, including two direct reports, and collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to enhance the dining experience for millions of users worldwide. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Product Design & Research.
The Director will be responsible for managing, mentoring, and developing designers and design managers, fostering a high-performing team environment. They will set and drive design quality standards, oversee the design process from concept to delivery, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Research teams to align on direction and deliver user-centric outcomes. Additionally, the role involves defining a compelling design vision, improving internal processes, and utilizing data-driven approaches to inform design decisions.
Candidates should have hands-on product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating impact at scale, deep expertise in both native apps and web experiences, exceptional visual design skills, and strong systems thinking. They must possess strategic and communication skills, including stakeholder management and the ability to deliver compelling presentations. A proven track record of growing designers and design managers, collaborative nature, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.
