Applied AI Engineer – Search & Discovery
OpenTable is seeking a mid-level Applied AI Engineer to join the Diner Growth – AI Discovery team in Kaunas, Lithuania. This team focuses on enhancing OpenTable's growth by developing systems that connect diners with restaurants through search engines and AI-driven discovery platforms. The role involves working in a hybrid environment, with two days per week in the office at the Magnum Office Center.
The Applied AI Engineer will be responsible for building and owning systems that directly impact user acquisition and revenue. Key responsibilities include designing end-to-end solutions across data pipelines, backend services, and frontend experiences. This encompasses developing LLM-powered workflows and scalable content systems using technologies such as Python, Node.js, TypeScript, Databricks, Kubernetes, and Postgres. Collaboration with product, design, and data partners is essential to deliver high-impact products.
Candidates should have strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and modern CI/CD practices. Experience in building LLM-powered systems, including prompting, grounding (RAG), and output evaluation, is important. The role requires the ability to design and own scalable backend systems and APIs end-to-end, along with a data-driven, experimental mindset focused on measurable impact and iteration. Proficiency in English and solid communication skills are also required.
