Desktop Software Engineering Manager
AlphaSense is seeking a Desktop Software Engineering Manager to establish and lead a new function within Corporate Technology. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability of AlphaSense's desktop applications across all managed endpoints, while also contributing to large-scale macOS and Windows device management. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Integrated IT and collaborates closely with Security, Business Applications, and Information Engineering teams as part of the Secure IT initiative.
Key responsibilities include testing new desktop application releases against the managed device baseline prior to broad internal rollout, managing the relationship with product engineering regarding desktop application behavior on employee endpoints, and defining standards for capturing and communicating diagnostic data to accelerate issue resolution. The role also involves establishing processes for reproducing, triaging, and escalating employee-reported desktop application issues, such as crash analysis, update failures, OS permission conflicts, and performance degradation.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in endpoint engineering or a related technical discipline, with at least two years in a people management or formal tech lead role. A hands-on background with macOS and/or Windows at a systems/configuration level is essential, along with demonstrated experience with enterprise MDM platforms like Kandji/Iru, Jamf Pro, or Microsoft Intune. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as a proven ability to build and run a technical function, including defining processes and driving accountability.
The base compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 USD annually. Additional compensation may include a performance-based bonus, equity, and a generous benefits program. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed.
