Data Protection Officer
Capital on Tap is seeking a Data Protection Officer to lead its Data Protection team in London. This strategic leadership role involves guiding the company through complex data protection regulations while enabling business objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments, including Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Commercial teams, to ensure compliance and foster a culture of privacy across the organization.
The Data Protection Officer will be responsible for providing strategic guidance on privacy risks and opportunities, ensuring full compliance with UK GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR, DUAA, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging regulations. Key duties include conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), managing data breach responses, implementing privacy-by-design principles, and leading the implementation of AI technologies and automation tools to streamline data protection activities. Additionally, the role involves acting as the primary contact point for regulators, overseeing data processing activities, and leading privacy due diligence for third-party vendors.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in UK data protection regulations, strong technical fluency, and a pragmatic, risk-based approach to problem-solving. Essential qualifications include experience in strategic leadership within data protection, familiarity with AI technologies and automation tools, and the ability to work collaboratively across various business functions.
